New Non-Invasive Procedure to Diagnose Barrett’s Oesophagus.
Oesophageal manometry provides information about the function of the oesophagus.
This is a test performed over a 24 hour period to determine how frequently fluid and/or gas from the stomach refluxes into the oesophagus.
In the same way as an impedance test, the Bravo will record reflux in the oesophagus. The test usually takes place over a much longer period (at least 48 hours).
Breath tests are most commonly used to diagnose small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and malabsorption of sugars such as lactose or fructose.
Patients experiencing symptoms in the mouth or throat may be advised to undergo special investigations.
Patients with respiratory symptoms such as a cough or asthma may undergo tests depending upon the type of symptoms they experience.
