Before I contacted RefluxUK I had spent two years suffering with various symptoms such as sore throat, feverishness, swollen glands, bloating and chest discomfort. I had seen various doctors (and had many blood tests and test procedures done), yet I was often misdiagnosed/not diagnosed at all. My quality of life was severely impacted by this, and I was spending most days at home feeling unwell.

When I met with Mr Boyle, he listened to my story and was empathetic. He quickly came up with an action plan and ensured that I was comfortable with it. He arranged for a 24 hour reflux test and a SIBO breath test, which came back positive. It was a massive relief to finally receive a diagnosis. Mr Boyle prescribed antibiotics for SIBO and referred me to a dietician for guidance with the low FODMAP diet. He also suggested I see Professor Birchall as part of the RefluxUK Multi Disciplinary Team approach as he is an ENT specialist who discovered that I had allergies and lingual tonsillitis, and prescribed medication for this.

After three months on the diet and medications, my quality of life has improved drastically. I experience less pain, and I am equipped with the knowledge to manage my condition so that I can have a more normal life. I am grateful to RefluxUK for their efforts and support.
