I had a very sudden onset of GERD and reflux following an incident in weight training. It became more acute quite quickly and although there were high doses of PPIs prescribed none really seem to have much effect.
Through information I looked up on the LINX® procedure
It was a great experience, I found Mr Boyle to be very easy going, informative and reassuring.
The surgery was far less a big deal than I had anticipated. I was able to eat as soon as I woke up and wasn’t too uncomfortable.
The days that followed were fairly pain free and the incisions were really small. There was a period of time around 7 weeks post recovery where I experienced a little bit of difficulty swallowing but Mr Boyle warns of this and is able to advise how to get through it. It was really quite minimal and he explains it's just part of the healing process which is obvious as it passed quite quickly.
To be honest I forget I have even had had it done. I feel like the surgery completely changed my life – I could hardly eat anything prior to the surgery, was in constant agony and was utterly miserable with the thought of living like that forever.
I would without a doubt recommend this life-changing surgery.
Please also refer to the post I added to RefluxUK Facebook page. I would send a copy but I’m no longer on it. I think it was around 3-4 months ago that I posted.
