After my treatment I no longer suffer from any reflux symptoms. Sleep is better and I can eat and drink normally
Rajiv - London

Please describe your symptoms before having treatment and approximately how long you experienced them for;

"Heartburn (both at night and during the day), regurgitation (mainly at night), poor quality of sleep, pain while exercising. Since the age of 18 (approximately 17 years)."

How did you find out about RefluxUK?

"Via Google (searching for reflux treatment)."

What was your experience of the consultation?

"Very thorough. Mr Boyle took the time to ask questions on my symptoms and history. He explained very clearly why the PPIs were not effective and went through the different surgical options. For the first time in years, I felt like there was a long term solution with the LINX procedure."

How did you find having the surgery?

"It was all relatively straightforward, out of the hospital the same day. There was a little bit of pain afterwards but that only lasted a day or so. Again, Mr Boyle explained things very clearly and put my mind at ease."

What happened in the days and weeks after the treatment?

"I stopped taking the painkillers the next day. Mr Boyle stressed the importance of eating normally and I made sure to do so. During the second and third weeks post-surgery, I did have trouble swallowing food (with it getting stuck) however, I learned to chew properly and eat smaller bites (bread in particular). As advised by Mr Boyle, I tapered off the PPIs over 3-4 weeks to the point where I was no longer taking them."

How are you feeling now?

"7 months after the operation I am still off the PPIs. I no longer suffer from any of the reflux symptoms and sleep quality is much better. I can eat and drink normally without any issues."

Would you recommend RefluxUK?

"I would highly recommend RefluxUK. This device has made a huge difference to my quality of life and I always felt I was in good hands with Mr Boyle."

Any other thoughts?

"It’s essential to follow the advice about recovery and the importance of eating normally. It can be tough for a few weeks but it’s worth it."
