Mr Matyas Fehervari
Consultant UGI, Bariatric Surgeon, Therapeutic Endoscopist
MD • MSC • PhD • FRCS

Mr Matyas Fehervari is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon and interventional endoscopist with a specialist focus on the diagnosis and treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. He completed a dedicated Royal College of Surgeons fellowship in anti-reflux and bariatric surgery and offers the full spectrum of surgical treatment and endoscopic evaluation for reflux, including laparoscopic fundoplication, LINX magnetic sphincter augmentation, Bravo wireless pH monitoring, and assessment of Barrett’s oesophagus. His approach is guided by physiology, evidence, and a commitment to minimally invasive techniques that support faster recovery and better long-term outcomes. In addition to reflux, his clinical practice includes keyhole surgery for gallstones and hernias, bariatric surgery and therapeutic endoscopy including endoscopic suturing. Patients consistently value his clear communication, calm manner, and patient-centred decision making.
Mr Fehervari holds a Master’s degree in Surgical Endoscopy and a PhD in Clinical Surgery, with significant published research on LINX and surgical treatment of reflux. Earlier in his career he was involved in the treatment and evaluation of complex reflux in lung transplant recipients at Harefield and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals—an experience that helped shape his multidisciplinary, physiology-based approach to GORD.
He completed his surgical training in the North West London Deanery through the academic programme at Imperial College London. In addition to his Royal College of Surgeons anti-reflux fellowship, he undertook international travel fellowships at the Mayo Clinic (USA) and the University of Strasbourg (France).
Mr Fehervari holds a full-time consultant post at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. He is a Clinical Lecturer at Kent and Medway Medical School and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London. He is actively involved in research and surgical education and is a nationally accredited trainer in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
Outside of work, he enjoys running, cycling, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his young family.
