James has been a registered clinical scientist since 2021. He originally studied Bioengineering MEng at the University of Sheffield, before completing his MSc in Clinical Sciences at King’s College London as part of the Scientist Training Programme. He specialised in clinical measurement and development at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, gaining experience in various physiological measurement disciplines. James is now unit lead of the GI Physiology unit at UCLH, providing diagnostic tests for the assessment of oesophageal and anorectal function, alongside managing service activity, development and research. He is a member of the BSG and IPEM, where he is an active member of the IPEM Physiological Measurement Special Interest Group (SIG). He has also completed the Accredited Scientific Practice programme in Upper GI Physiology. James has been physiology lead at RefluxUK since September 2023. He provides oesophageal physiology tests at Harley Street and St Bartholomew's Hospital, and joins the monthly multidisciplinary team meeting to present and discuss cases.
