So many patients in the UK with reflux symptoms are misdiagnosed and mistreated. Did you know?

  • Around 20-30% of the UK population suffer from gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and an even greater portion (up to 40%) suffer from moderate or severe reflux symptoms.
  • 30% of patients with GERD do not respond well to standard medications such as proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs like Omeprazole).
  • 60% of GERD patients have non-acidic symptoms, which will not be alleviated by PPIs.

How RefluxUK Can Help

At RefluxUK, we see many patients who have experienced life-altering symptoms for years, with little or no relief from medications, and no offer to be treated through other methods. Many patients have not had a formal diagnosis of reflux disease from diagnostic tests (suggested by international guidelines); many may be experiencing reflux-like symptoms but do not have reflux disease. In these patients, the treatment they are offered will not be effective. Likewise, many patients that do have GERD do not respond to standard treatments and have not been offered all treatment options available.
